One of the most rewarding aspects about teaching at ISB is that the students are genuinely happy, hard-working, caring and fun. As professional educators, the quality and quantity of resources at ISB allow us to really hone in on the craft of teaching. From the moment we landed at Beijing's airport, we were greeted and welcomed warmly by ISB administrators. The first week of orientation provided a smooth orientation for settling into Beijing. We were provided with the comfort of furnished temporary housing at Day's Inn before we were supported with finding our home nearby ISB.
The amount of time and energy ISB's human resources team puts into making sure every new employee has a smooth transition makes ISB a first-class school.

My transition to ISB was much easier than I thought it would be. There was no point when I felt like I didn't know what was going on. When you're coming to a new country, it is so reassuring to have the support from mentor teachers and "professional buddies" who prepare you for every step professionally and personally. There is a lot of investment in professional development; being able to pick and choose the areas where we would like to develop as educators is fantastic.
Before I decided to come to Beijing, I attended job fairs. Doing up to 20 interviews per day can be quite overwhelming, but it was the feeling I experienced during my interview with ISB that sealed my decision. There is a strong sense of community, and I get wonderful support from parents. Working in a team with so many different perspectives and experiences is great.

For assurance of a safe learning environment for our students, ISB recruiters and our Human Resources Office conduct thorough reference and background checks on candidates before making a job offer. Applicants must provide at least 3 references. At least TWO of these must be a former or current supervisor, both of whom the School must be able to contact either face to face or through a phone call.
All employees are required to provide clear background/criminal checks. New hires must provide a recent background check from both their home country and current work location, if they are currently overseas. The school reserves the right to request criminal record checks from other countries in which the candidate has lived or worked for more than 6 months.
All ISB personnel, including subs, interns, coaches and ASA providers, must undergo Child Protection awareness training including periodical updates and information sessions. Each employee signs, under separate cover, the ISB Code of Conduct outlining standards and expectations of the school’s Child Protection Policy and procedures for reporting and following up on suspected abuse.
