Our High School
Our academic program in the High School balances the breadth of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme with a choice of courses tailored to individual student interests. Our High School diploma program is a four-year university preparatory course of study that develops our students as learners and as individuals. We believe that successful students are not defined solely by their attainment in tests and exams. In the High School, our role is to nurture the talents of our students and develop their skills through authentic learning experiences. Our After School Activities program provides opportunities for students to excel in sports and performing arts, and we encourage all our students to take part in a service project or join a community group. Our students work in small groups with educators to design and organize a personalized learning experience. These collaborative projects are devised around a common interest and develop real life skills.
Class of 2017
In Grades 11 and 12, our students elect to study the IB Diploma Programme or construct a personalized program, from a combination of IB courses, ISB courses and online courses around their interests and talents.
High School Principal
The International Baccalaureate's mission statement aligns with our learning philosophy at ISB:
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
The IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced course of study that prepares students for success at university and life beyond. The programme has gained recognition and respect from the world's leading universities for breadth and depth. Students following the IB Diploma Programme study courses from a range of disciplines with a minimum of two languages. Our IB students make connections across traditional academic disciplines and explore the nature of knowledge through the programme's unique theory of knowledge course. IB students also undertake in-depth research into an area of interest in one or more academic disciplines for their extended essay. The programme seeks to not only enhance students' academically, but also to nurture their personal and interpersonal development. As part of the IB programme, students undertake creative pursuits, physical activities and service projects.

ISB Futures Academy (ISBFA) is an educational model designed to inspire creativity, develop problem-solving skills and effective communication, and encourage flexibility and cooperation. The model facilitates learning opportunities and experiences that cultivate these transferable skills and aims to empower students to take ownership of their learning.
Our counselors share learning and social strategies to help students meet academic demands and deal with any social pressures they may face. We have such a broad scope of course offerings in the High School that students often seek counselors' advice when selecting their courses. High School counselors also help our students to plan for life after their time at ISB.
We offer courses through the Global Online Academy, Virtual High School, Pamoja Education online learning platforms. Through ISB's partnership with these online learning providers, our students have the opportunity to study semester-long courses in subjects ranging from bioethics to app development alongside students from member schools across the globe.
Pamoja Education works closely with the IB to ensure that all their courses comply with the IB's rigorous standards. All our online learning platforms work with experienced teachers with extensive training in online pedagogy, as well as mentoring and support. Our online learning platforms provide the opportunity for our students to collaborate with educators and students from around the world, with class sections often balanced to promote a global mix of perspectives to further enhance the learning experience.
Our High School counselors help students to determine the course of study best suited to their goals. Our School Profile offers information about our graduation requirements and the academic results of our students. Regardless of the courses our students choose, our academic program offers new ways of understanding the world. The different disciplines our students study provide a different perspective: a new lens through which to examine the world and their place in it.
