Join a virtual tour of ISB

By Nick Yates, ISB Communications

The International School of Beijing (ISB) is celebrating its 40th anniversary year and settling into amazing additional facilities. It’s a great time for a Virtual Open Day.

On Thursday, March 25, families looking for a leading international education in the Chinese capital will get the warmest of welcomes at this online event. Offering a virtual tour led by principals and members of the school’s leadership team, ISB is maintaining its open house tradition despite restricted campus access in these unprecedented times.

Anyone who is already a member of the ISB community will know that this is an extraordinary school. Committed to students’ learning and their social and emotional needs, ISB is a progressive center for education. Open day guests will get an introduction to some of the transformational experiences taking place at ISB every day, then enjoy a live question and answer session.

For 2020-2021, a number of carefully designed learning spaces were added to the ISB campus including a new Early Years Learning Community, Elementary School Arts Center and Theater, Middle School/High School Performing Arts Center, and Middle School/High School Art and Design Center.

These Facilities Master Plan projects were years in the planning, including extensive community input and consultation, to ensure ISB continues to live its Mission and Vision and provide challenging and joyful learning for all. See the slideshow above for your own mini tour of these spaces.

ISB is proud to be celebrating 40 years of education services dedicated to this city’s inspiring international community. ISB was the first international school in Beijing, initially made up of eight students and two certified teachers in the hallway of a diplomatic apartment compound. In 1980, amid the growth of other diplomatic communities, the U.S. Embassy joined with the British, Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand embassies and formally founded ISB. What a lot has happened since then!

“In our 40th anniversary year, ISB continues to be a sought-after school attracting families from around the world, and we can’t wait to show more of you around our beautiful campus on March 25th,” said ISB Admissions Director Nicole Washko. “ISB’s strong enrollment in recent years is attributable to excitement around the completion of our new facilities, as well as the innovative programming that distinguishes an ISB education from other international schools.

“Open day guests will get insight into what makes ISB such an inspiring place for our roughly 1,700 students from 50 countries and regions. The challenging and joyful learning we offer is based on strong relationships and setting high expectations together, and events like the Virtual Open Day are vital to us introducing ourselves and getting to know prospective new members of the community.”
