ISB’s official 40th anniversary logo

By Sam Wong, ISB Alumni Relations, and Nick Yates, ISB Communications

The International School of Beijing (ISB) will celebrate its 40th anniversary next academic year, and the community now has an official logo for the festivities after a competition asking students, parents, teachers, and alumni to draw what the school means to them.

More than 200 design entries were submitted to the 40th Anniversary Committee, all vying to be selected as the official ISB 40th anniversary logo. The competition provided the community with a great way to stay busy and remain connected to ISB during a period when the campus has been closed due to Covid-19. Current students provided the majority of the submissions. The artworks employed a diverse range of artistic techniques from traditional sketches to digital designs. Designs had to be on the theme of the anniversary or ISB’s refreshed Vision statement, “Empowered with Purpose and Compassion.”

The winners of each category are:

ISB is proud to be celebrating 40 years of commitment to challenging and joyful learning and education services dedicated to this city’s inspiring international community. ISB was the first international school in Beijing and today is recognized as a leading learning community. In its earliest stages, ISB was made up of eight students and two certified teachers in the hallway of a diplomatic apartment compound. In 1980, amid the growth of other diplomatic communities, the U.S. Embassy joined with the British, Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand embassies and formally founded ISB.

Throughout the 2020-2021 school year, a series of events will be organized to celebrate and reflect on four decades of world-class education, highlighting the achievements of our students, staff, and alumni. Check out the Celebrating 40 web page for more details.

ISB is an extraordinary school, made so by a tradition of educational excellence spanning 40 years. Establishing, nurturing, and growing such an exceptional learning community has been and remains intentional; we work hard to build strong relationships so our learning is at its best.
