The International School of Beijing is proud to be celebrating 40 years of commitment to challenging and joyful learning and education services dedicated to this city’s inspiring international community. ISB was the first international school in Beijing and today is recognized as a leading learning community. In its earliest stages, ISB was made up of eight students and two certified teachers in the hallway of a diplomatic apartment compound. In 1980, amid the growth of other diplomatic communities, the U.S. Embassy joined with the British, Australian, Canadian, and New Zealand embassies and formally founded ISB. Throughout the 2020-2021 school year, a series of events will be organized to celebrate and reflect on our four decades of world-class education, highlighting the achievements of our students, staff, and alumni.

Birthday Gift Fund


The ISB Birthday Gift Fund supports projects and initiatives proposed by students aligned with the School’s Mission, Vision and Values. The Birthday Gift Fund was created as part of the school’s 40th Anniversary celebrations. The initiator of the projects should be students and students will be requested to apply for the use of funds.

Birthday Gift Fund projects:

  • Service Learning – engage ISB students in genuine and reciprocal learning experiences. Build community and meaningfully strengthen the school’s relationships with the local community over time
  • Sustainability initiatives – contribution to the school’s sustainability goals
  • Creative learning in academics, arts, design & athletics including ideas to support risk taking, prototyping or piloting programs.

To make a gift in cash with RMB, please come in person to the Business Office. 

Online Donations & USA Taxpayers
Online donations can be made to ISB's non-profit called Friends of International School of Beijing, which is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the USA. If you are a USA taxpayer you can receive a tax deduction benefit and receipt by making your gift to Friends of ISB. VISA, MasterCard, and Amex are accepted for online donations through the contribution link hosted by Diamond Mind. Contribution link coming soon. 

Bank transfer
International School of Beijing accepts bank transfer payment in either RMB or in USD. Paying by bank transfer in USD is acceptable in accordance to the regulations set forth by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE). The applicable exchange rate used is based on the middle rate published by the Bank of China at the time of payment. Remittance instruction must include invoice number and/or the name of student. To ensure proper credit, a copy of the bank transfer remittance slip must be scanned and sent to the Business Office email account at tuition@isb.bj.edu.cn. All bank transfer fees are the responsibility of the payer.

Check 
International School of Beijing only accepts check payment in RMB. RMB check should be made payable to 北京顺义国际 学校”.
