In Memoriam

Britt Lapthorne (1987-2008)

Britt Lapthorne (class of 2006) attended ISB from 1997-2000 for her 4th, 5th and 6th grade years. She was studying at the University of Melbourne. After visiting her brother, Darren, also an ISB former student, in Germany, she tragically died. The entire ISB community mourns the loss of the this bright and talented young woman and we extend our deepest sympathies to her parents, Elke and Dale, and her brother, Darren.

Patrick Obrist (1982 - 2008)

Patrick Obrist (class of 2000) attended ISB from 1991 until 1997. He was at the Lido campus from the 4th to 9th grade. He graduated from the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (Lausanne hotel management school) in Switzerland in 2006. Following graduation, Patrick started working for the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai. He was diagnosed with cancer in early 2007 at which time he repatriated home for treatment and surgery. After about a year of battling the disease, Patrick passed away in Switzerland on February 8th 2008. He is survived by his parents, brother, Christian and sister, Isabel. Patrick will be missed by his family, friends, and classmates from ISB.

Larry Lawson (1945 - 2004)

Mr. Lawson served ISB as the Upper Elementary School Princiipal at both the Lido and Shunyi campuses. He was a part of the ISB community from 1995 to 2003. He was retired at the time of his passing. He is remembered by many of his colleagues and friends.

Greg Lock (1948 - 2003)

Mr. Lock was the Upper Elementary Principal at the current Shunyi campus. He passed away while still employed at ISB. He is survived by family and friends. He was known to be kind and considerate to his students and staff. He too is greatly missed.

Rob Google (1953 - 2002)

Rob and his family came to ISB in July 1996 with his family. He was the Principal at the Satellite School from 1996 to 2000.

Christina Michels (1944 - 1994)

Surving daughter and Alumni member, Nicole Michels (class of 1995) recently notified the ISB Alumni office with details of her mother's passing. Christina Michels, former 4th and 5th grade art, math and science teacher from the Lido campus from 1988 to 1991 lost her battle with breast cancer and passed on November 22, 1994. She was an extraordinary lady and teacher. She impacted many lives while teaching at ISB. She will be missed by her former students and colleagues.
