ESOL Ratio

To be eligible for admission, ESOL students will demonstrate age level and/or academic proficiency in their native language. ESOL students will be required to meet all normal admissions criteria, with the exception of English language proficiency.

The following percentages provide limits in regard to the ESOL student population:

Early Childhood: Grade level may accommodate up to 40% of ESOL students

K: Grade level may accommodate up to 30% of ESOL students

Grade 1: Grade level may accommodate up to 25% of ESOL students

Grades 2-8: Grade levels may accommodate up to 20% of ESOL students

Grade 9 - Proficiency Level 3: Students at proficiency Level 3 or above are eligible for admission; the grade may accomodate up to 20% of ESOL students

Grade 10 - Proficiency Level 4: Students at proficiency Level 4 or above are eligible for admission; the grade may accomodate up to 20% of ESOL students

Grades 11-12 - Proficiency Level 5: Students at proficiency Level 5 or above are eligible for admission; the grade may accomodate up to 20% of ESOL students
