Welcome to the International School of Beijing (ISB)

We are pleased to welcome you to the International School of Beijing, “a world leader in international education” in Beijing for more than 25 years!

ISB is proud to educate and inspire over 1,850 students from over 50 countries. Students come to us at three years of age and often stay until high school graduation because of our exceptional academic programs as well as the commitment to the social and emotional development of the whole child.

Offering outstanding educational programs drawn from the best international curricula and standards, ISB strives to inspire each and every student with knowledge, skills and attributes necessary to become a responsible contributor to the global community. Over the past several years, more students have stayed at ISB longer than in the past, as the ISB community and the city of Beijing continue to grow into even more exciting and fulfilling places to live, work, socialize…and to learn. We think you will find ISB’s teachers, as well as our comprehensive, child-centered curriculum and programs are among the best in the world.

As you look at possible schools for your children here in Beijing, we hope this site gives you the information and the “feel” of ISB you need to make a great choice of school.

I am proud to report that our recent Strategic Planning initiative has resulted in not only a new mission, but in clear direction for our school for the coming years. Development of the plan has been very inclusive of the community and has resulted in a student-centered, future-oriented plan. We envisage the implementation of this plan being of great value to the ISB school community.

As a non-profit school, ISB belongs to its parents, all of whom are Association Members. This unique orientation allows ISB to stay focused on its mission, “in partnership with parents, to provide a world class education”. This partnership is exemplified by the school’s Board of Trustees –12 parents, all of whom are elected from the school community - charged with the governance of the school. The Parent/Teacher Association and Booster Club are other positive examples of dynamic partnerships which add immeasurable energy and atmosphere to the school.
